It is a printing method which permit me to realise creations series of
different and identicals creations. I realised the first permutypes in 1964
with woodcuttings.
The principle is to use the elements of a basic composition, with woodcuts,
or printing screens and to permute either their colors or their positions
in the page.
So finally, from the same subject, a permutype publishing ends in a collection
of original pieces, each one being unique, all differents and identical
at the same time.
In the case of the arrow patterns this technique was particularly efficient
to experiment the graphic powers relationships in the page, on the question
of graphic powers each another, or on the question of the shapes powers
in the page, by rotating the elements or by moving the rows of the patterns.
